In the pilot project NETWORK DIVISIONAL CHARGE MANAGEMENT OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES at the low-voltage level, modern sensor technology (voltage and current meters) was installed at selected points in the grid. This provided the Intelligent Grid Operator PSIngo with the necessary data for reliable calculation and continuous monitoring of network utilization in real time.

The prototype for the digital low-voltage grid of the future has proven its practicality in a pilot project of Rheinische NETZGesellschaft and RheinEnergie.In two low-voltage grids in Cologne, the PSI Intelligent Grid Operator (PSIngo) was used to successfully test intelligent grid status monitoring for grid-serving charging management of electric vehicles at public charging stations.
